We present the city's history through fascinating stories and amusing anecdotes designed to give you a unique perspective on Jacksonville. Learn of the Timuquan, the area's first inhabitants, French and Spanish colonization 55 years before the Pilgrims landed in the new world, "Hollywood" Jacksonville, and the Great Fire of 1901. See the one of a kind Memorial Wall, the Alltel Stadium and much more of the downtown area.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center. Now we are off to the Riverside/Avondale area. In the Summer Of 1920 this ad was placed about this neighborhood : "Avondale, Riverside's Residential Ideal. Where only the correct and well to do people would live. Avondale is desirable because the right kind of people have recognized its worth and the wrong kind of people can find property more to their liking elsewhere". Can you imagine reading that today? See the Telfair Stockton Residence (must walk to see this house). Mr. Stockton placed the ad above. He also started the Stockton, Whatley & Davin mortgage company. See Park Lane Apartments: These were called co-op apartments- the first Florida condos. We will also see two of our favorites: the "Bryson Residence" this house is known as the "Marble House" made of marble quarried in Georgia. The Leon Cheek residence built in 1928. Mr. Cheek was head of the Cheek and Niel Coffee company. Today we call it Maxwell House coffee. We will drive by 7 historical homes. Free time for lunch on your own at the St. Johns Town Center. Now we are off to Anheuser-Busch for a tour, and if you like beer, enjoy a taste of the best beer in the city, yes you even get pretzels. Now back to your hotel.
